ARTIST'S ELEGANT PIED-A-TERRE… 1870 Neoclassical law office in remarkable original condition has been converted by the owner, a renowned artist, into a splendid town home, with all the modern conveniences. The interior spaces have imposing 12-foot decorative ceilings, original elaborate marbleized slate mantles, chestnut paneling, doors, shutters, and several large bookcases. Architectural features were unaltered and many were reused in creative ways, for example, bookshelves in the dining room became a china armoire (see 2nd row photo) and the walk-in vault is now a handsome pantry(see next to last photo). Plaster walls were stripped of wallpaper to create the feeling of timeworn patina. The restored 1st floor powder room has a marble-top sink (last photo), while the new kitchen has travertine stone floor and walls (3rd row photo). The whole building has been completely upgraded with all new roof, plumbing, electric, and HVAC systems.
